Splitting Images - Gabriel Lugo, Filis Ann Ozkurdum Genre wise I think this fits nicely into horror. The writing is a tad awkward and displaced. It could do with some editing for style, flow and things like repetitive sentences in the same paragraphs. The horror was mixed with some fairly uncomfortable scenes that depicted child abuse. To be quite frank I found some of the violence against children gratuitous in the graphic detail. That however is just how those scenes made me feel, which doesn't mean it will be the same for any other reader.Although the concept was interesting I felt that the end product didn't reflect that excellent idea. The story felt very confusing at times, many scenes were prolonged with superfluous details or conversations. It felt as if the author lost sight of that initial idea of the two worlds and got lost in the dynamics of, senseless torture and often unbelievable family relationships.I received a free copy of this book for my review.
