When Women Were Warriors Book I: The Warrior's Path (Volume 1) - Catherine M. Wilson I don't think I have ever read a book that manages to create a storyline in which males are nearly completely non-existent.They are there, but only in the background and only mentioned once or twice. All the main characters are strong women. they are portrayed as the warriors, lovers. friends, daughters, mothers, children and leaders. It wasn't at all what I expected based on the title. I was prepared for some sort of text book like lesson on strong women in history. Instead the first few pages quickly drew me into this quite remarkable world.Far from thinking that the main character is sweet, innocent and butter wouldn't melt, I found her quite selfish and manipulative in her ways. Her future as an apprentice and/or warrior should be quite interesting.Although slow at times this was most certainly a very memorable read.
