Hunting Will (The Aliomenti Saga, #0.5) - Alex Albrinck This short novella is the prequel to A Question of Will (The Aliomenti Saga - Book 1).So..there was this little thing that I felt sort of distracted me from the actual story. I read the name Aramis and thought, why does that ring a bell. Then Porthos and Athos turned up. In the middle of an Uebermensch dystopian society lives secretly amongst the humans setting, no less. Those are the names of the Hunters, an elite force, who are tasked with finding Will. Now imagine this if you can. The setting is tense, super hybrid powers are being used and the hunt is in full swing. I read the name Porthos and all I can see in my minds eye is a mega-moustached, caped, sword swinging musketeer charging his opponent. Now I could question why the author chose to use the names, but I don't have to, because I already know. It might have been distracting and didn't fit, but I am not likely to ever forget it. Kudos to the author for taking up space in my memory vault.I think it could do with tightening up and more direction. Less emphasis on the subplots and more on the main one.The prequel explains the story of the who, what and how of Will and why they are chasing him. The story ends on a need to know what happens next cliffhanger and I guess I do need to know.
