Voice of the Lost - Andrea K. Höst This is the follow up to The Silence of Medair. The last chapter of the first book revealed the true identity and purpose of Medair to the people around her. This second book starts off with Medair making a choice that will change the world around her forever. It is nearly impossible to say anything about the unfolding story within this book, as it will give away twist and turns, which are best left for the reader to discover.I think this book doesn't work well as a stand alone novel, unlike the first. It could do with a larger introduction or recap to help new readers understand what has happened to Medair, who she is and how the story has reached this point. If I had no prior knowledge of the first book I would have been pretty much lost in this second one. The glossary of names, places and objects, that are specific to this fantasy story, could do with being in the front of the book. That way the reader can prepare and isn't bombarded with unknown terms, instead of having them in the back of the book to read as a hindsight.I loved the flow of the first book and the deep feeling of underlying emotions, which I think was lacking in this edition. It was more methodical, strategical and less about Medair.Saying all that I enjoy the writing and the worlds this author manages to create and look forward to what she might come up with next.
